Former Slipknot Drummer Jay Weinberg Hip and Femur Surgery Chronicle

2011 Warped Tour - Pomona, California

Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg recently underwent hip and femur surgery, marking a significant chapter in his musical journey. The talented musician had meticulously planned this procedure, aiming to ensure minimal disruption to his drumming career. Weinberg’s commitment to his craft and his fans shines through in his dedication to his recovery.

On the heels of three years of careful preparation, Weinberg opted for an outpatient surgery to address issues with his left hip’s torn labrum and a misshapen part of his femur. Notably, these conditions had not hindered his drumming prowess, but he recognized the importance of addressing them during a break from recording and touring.

Since 2020, Weinberg’s top priority had been to maintain uninterrupted drumming. In May, a window in his schedule appeared, signaling that the time for the surgery had arrived. Following an MRI in August and consultation with his inner circle, he made the decision to schedule the surgery immediately after the last performance of 2023, with the goal of being stage-ready for the next show in April.

Weinberg’s commitment to healing remained unwavering, even though he expressed disappointment at missing Slipknot’s upcoming performance at the 2024 Sick New World festival in Las Vegas. In a heartfelt message, he encouraged others facing challenges to stay positive and seek meaningful connections and purpose in their lives.
