1. Tiësto

Tiësto (born Tijs Michiel Verwest, January 17, 1969) is a Dutch DJ and record producer of electronic dance music. Some of his achievements include the 2000 remix of Delerium’s “Silence” featuring Sarah McLachlan that made him gain mainstream popularity among EDM fans. In 2001, he released his first solo album, In My Memory, which gave him several more major hits that launched his career. He was voted World No. 1 DJ by DJ Magazine in its annual Top 100 DJs readership poll consecutively for three years from 2002 to 2004. Tiësto performed at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games to an audience of billions. He also won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for his remixed version of John Legend’s hit “All of Me”. Throughout the past two decades, Tiësto has remained not only one of the world’s most prolific and enduring artists, but one of EDM’s top pioneers.

2. Avicii

Avicii (born Tim Bergling, 8 September 1989 – 20 April 2018), was a Swedish DJ and record producer. At the age of 16, he began posting his remixes on electronic music forums, which led to his first record deal. He rose to prominence in 2011 with his single “Levels“. His also well known for other hits such as “Wake Me Up“, “I Could Be The One” and “Hey Brother“. Avicii retired from touring in 2016, after several years of stress and poor mental health. On 20 April 2018, he committed suicide while on holiday in Muscat, Oman.

3. Daft Punk

French electronic music duo Daft Punk was formed in 1993 in Paris by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. They quickly won acclaim for their skill at blending their beloved Chicago house and Detroit techno with pop, funk, indie rock, and hip-hop into nostalgic yet futuristic forms. Their debut studio album Homework was released by Virgin Records in 1997 to positive reviews, backed by singles “Around the World” and “Da Funk“. Their other popular songs include “Starboy“, “One More Time“, “Digital Love“, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” and “Get Lucky” which won a Grammy award for Record of the Year. The duo had been active until 2021 when their disbandment was formally announced.

4. David Guetta

David Guetta (born Pierre David Guetta, 7 November 1967) is a French DJ and music producer. In 1987, Guetta began to DJ at the Broad Club in Paris playing popular songs and hosting his own club nights. He discovered house music when he heard a Farley “Jackmaster” Funk track on French radio. Guetta’s carefree attitude — that he only produces good music while he’s having casual fun — kept the DJ from releasing anything until 2001’s “Just a Little More Love.” During this time, Guetta snuck out a bootleg remix of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” retitled “Just for One Day.” Bowie gave the go-ahead to release the track officially, and Guetta soon had a massive hit on his hands. He achieved international crossover success during the late-2000s EDM boom with chart-toppers One Love and Nothing But the Beat, his house anthems became fixtures on the dance charts into the 2010s. In 2011, 2020 and 2021, Guetta was voted the number one DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll.

5. Swedish House Mafia

Swedish House Mafia is a Swedish house music supergroup consisting of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. They rose to prominence in the 2000s with their high-energy brand of EDM and progressive house music. Their breakout performance came on August 12, 2008, when they played the Main Room at Cream Amnesia in Ibiza, Spain, as part of Radio 1’s Essential Mix Ibiza. They’ve gone to have international hits with tracks like “One (Your Name)“, “Miami 2 Ibiza” and “Don’t You Worry Child“.

6. Armin Van Burren

Armin van Buuren was born in Leiden, on 25 December 1976. The Dutch DJ had his first success with a track called “Blue Fear”, which was released under the Cyber Records label in 1997. Since then he’s gone to release a couple of hits which include “Blah Blah Blah“, “Waiting for the Night” and “In and Out of Love“. In 2014, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for his single “This Is What It Feels Like” featuring Trevor Guthrie. He has consistently ranked in the Top Five of DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs poll every year since 2002.

7. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike

Dimitri Vegas (Dimitri Thivaios) and Like Mike (Michael Thivaios) were born on 16 May 1982 and 3 December 1985 in Belgium. They left Belgium in 1999 to play a European tour and settled in Mallorca to establish their names on the European dance circuit before moving to Halkidiki, Greece and then Ibiza in 2003. In 2010, they were part of writing the official anthem for the 2010 edition of Tomorrowland, “Tomorrow (Give in to the Night)“. This song was their first top 20 hit, peaking at number 16 in Belgium. They’ve gone to release hits such as “The Hum“, “Melody“,  and “Mammoth“.

8. deadmau5

Deadmau5 ( born Joel Thomas Zimmerman; January 5, 1981) is a Canadian electronic music producer and DJ. Debuting in the late 2000s, he became notable with his 2009’s “For Lack of a Better Name”. From there, he remained a Top Ten fixture on the U.S. and Canadian Dance charts. He’s well known for songs like “Strobe“, “I Remember” and “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff“. He was also named “Producer of 2007” by DJ Magazine’s 2007 Top 100 winner Armin van Buuren, and by runner up Tiësto.

9. Eric Prydz

Eric Prydz is a Swedish DJ and producer best known for his 2004 hit single “Call On Me”, his remix of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall” (known as “Proper Education”) and more recently the anthem “Pjanoo”. In 2017, he won DJ of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards and was also nominated for Live Act of the Year.

10. Calvin Harris

Calvin Harris (born Adam Richard Wiles; January 17, 1984 in Dumfries, Scotland), is a Scottish singer, songwriter and record producer. He went from self-releasing his music online to selling millions in the 2000s and 2010s with radio-friendly, electronic dance crossover anthems such as “Feel So Close“, “This Is What You Came For“, “Summer“, and “One Kiss“. He topped Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid DJs for six consecutive years from 2013 to 2018.

11. Skrillex

Skrillex (born Sonny John Moore; January 15, 1988) is an American DJ and music producer. He found club and mainstream stardom beginning in 2008, when he swapped his gig as the frontman in post-hardcore band From First to Last for the dancefloor-oriented project Skrillex. Since then his gone to release major hits including “Bangarang”, “First of the Year (Equinox)” and “Make It Bun Dem“. He also won a few Grammy Awards in 2011, including Best Dance/Electronica Album for Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and Best Dance Recording for the title track.
