Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.

First I’d like to say thanks for the interview. My name is MonoTon3 . The reason I chose this name is because I looked at it as kind of a humbling thing. When I chose the name MonoTon3 I was trying to capitalize on the “background” feel of the word monotone. I just wanna hopefully, in time, be the guy that can help the ppl that stuff their opinions and feelings in the back and are too scared, or genuinely can’t express themselves to one day be able to. I hate talking about my feelings and I realized I’m not the only one like that so I chose to bite the bullet and give them something to hopefully relate to.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

I always loved music so when my older brother said he wanted to do it I followed, but that was when I was around 12, so I hadn’t really felt a connection to music and after my dad passed at 13 I kinda didn’t want to do anything. Around 16 is when I’d say I actually felt a reason to make music. It became a tool to express my stresses in life so the people that hear it can relate and hopefully see that there’s always better days, which is something I really tried to drive in my first solo project “FE3LIN R3LAXED”.

Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

I recently dropped a new project called FE3LIN R3LAXED. This project, no matter the success of it, is always going to be special to me, the reason being. I was supposed to drop this project in July, but I ended up going through a lot; I got into a car accident which led to a lot of financial issues, along with a handful of other things while also trying to close out the mixing and mastering of the project by myself. However, I’m never the one to ask for a sympathy appeal so instead of moping around I hit the ground and found my way out of it., and so with this project it was made before I went through that stuff so it became a kind of projecting out. You can‘t sit and hope your problems vanish; you have to acknowledge their presence and work to make them disappear. Life sucks., but we’re only dealt one., R3LAX on the stressors., it’s for a time and season.

What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?

I’d say what makes my music unique is the fact that I’m creating it. Music kind of runs in cycles so I think no one is aggressively unique. I think when you’re able to combine different aspects and eras of music that’s when you kinda step into the unique category. I’m still learning, but with that as my end goal I’d say that makes me unique.

Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

My biggest influences would probably be thug, Drake, Wayne, The Weeknd, Juice Wrld, and A boogie.

I’d like to collaborate with probably Young Thug, A boogie, and The Weeknd. RIP Juice he would’ve been the main ft I’d go for and Wayne and Drake are my idols so I’d never go for those fts at least not until I was certified on my own.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

Probably my song Pablo. I made that song as one of my quick “two vocal take” tracks so I didn’t think it’d be as liked as it was, but that’s the magic of music. The most you can do is release it and the audience will choose their favorites.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

Personally I kinda wing it. The reason I say that is, because on a average week I make about 10-20 songs just, because I’m always writing randomly and “freestyling” based on the ideas I get while living my day to day life., but as far as finding time to record., I usually record the best tracks I’ve made over the week., on my first off day from work.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

Don’t quit. If you really love making music never give up, there’s so many people in the game just for the money which sucks, I mean yeah money rules the world., but music is supposed to help people escape. Just give it you all and keep that in mind.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

My whole career, the one thing I hope I can get across is be yourself. The world sucks but you can still make it yours. Don’t let the masses hold you back from living your best reality.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

So I have a lot planned going forward, but as of this year., Sep 24t
