My name is Davis James. I was born in boise, Idaho & raised in Minneapolis Minnesota.
What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
Green Day, specifically Billie Joe Armstrong made me want to be a rockstar. When I was about 8 years old. I got a guitar but hated taking lessons. A year later I discovered Eminem & hip-hop music. It became my favorite genre over the following years & I felt much better about becoming a recording artist “rapper” than learning to play instruments.
Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?
New track titled Gatsby is coming out on 10/30. I am an inspirational writer & one day looking through some old photos I found one I had titled “Gatsby”.. Lyrics immediately came to mind “young gatsby, find me where the cash be” everything clicked during the writing process & when I found the beat produced by @thecxdy .. I could feel it was a special song.
What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?
What makes my music unique is what makes all music unique, the individual making it. Nobody else can do what im doing the way im doing it, nobody else can be me.
Do you play any instruments? And why do you love it?
I do not but maybe one day Ill pick something up.
Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
Green Day, Eminem, Mac Miller, Logic, NF, Oliver Francis, Arizona Zervas, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys. A collar with any of these artists would be a dream come true.
Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
My career is still in its very beginning stages but 1M streams in my first year and going nearly top 100 on the iTunes chart for my first drop were nice accomplishments.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
Im not balanced. I dropped out of school 5 years ago & have been focused on my life mission ever since. My only obligation is to myself & the dream.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Come up with a plan you feel good about & go for it. Understand you must change this plan several times to adapt to life circumstances. As long as you have the end goal in mind, you will get there, as long as you genuinely believe you will.

My second album. Great Expectations Volume 2. Coming 2021.
