Music Interview: Jamal Wade delves on his creative tastes, musical influences & new music

    Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.

    Jamal Wade is my actual name which is fully Jamal Wade Johnson.

    I decided to go with it because it has a ring to it as well as my Label ForeverPaid LLC  which I believe it goes together well business wise

    What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

    I started music when I was 8 by writing music in a composition book by the time I was 11 years old I was listening to beats from a website called sound click. After I enter high school my freshman year I started a music music four years pass and I then realize I have not only a passion for music but also talent in what I do. Fast forward to 2019 I released my debut EP “God Forgive Me” nearly a year later 2020 my EP now sits above 1 million streams on Spotify and counting with four singles that are over 100,000 Streams as well such as “Stay On Point” “Tears” “Flaming Up” and “Tell Me”

    Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

    My new music is honestly an expression of what I’ve been going through in my life over the past year invest money, making money, learning more about the music industry and what too look forward to.

    What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?

    First and foremost what makes my music unique is the fact that I’m versatile when it comes to music I don’t have a set sounds or general Genre I keep an open mind to the music I make because I have so many things to talk about. Although I would describe my Genres or sub genres I would have to say ( Hip-hop, Rap, R&B, South Trap, Drill Music, Indie, working on some Pop  music as well).

    Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

    My biggest musical influences would have to be a mix of J.Cole, Dizzy Wright, Joey Bada$$, Money Man, Da Baby, Lil Baby, Money Bag Yo as well as K. Camp.

    Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

    My best moments thus far has been the fact of reaching over 1 million streams being an upcoming independent Artist based out of Tampa Bay Florida something that not many have done. And just solo promoted myself as not only independent but also self made.

    How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

    When it comes to the balance of my music and obligations I make sure to make time for everything within my 24hrs of a day I am constantly reaching new limit in my life my family are my biggest supporters they have always been their cheering me on with my music. And friends really only have few my circle is pretty tight ( small).

    What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

    I would tell aspiring musicians don’t give up never give up because it will come a time that you less expected things to work in you’re favor so stay focus and hungry for the next big break anything is possible believe me.

    If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

    Look forward to new music and new sounds all 2021 keep ears and eyes open for a guy by the name of Jamal Wade.

    What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

    Yes I at the moment I am working on two new project although top of the year 2021 I plan to release more singles being that I have so many and people are waiting patiently.
