Music Review: A&L – So Sorry

    A&L - So Sorry-2

A&L proudly dive headlong into hard and punchy sonics, making a thrilling musical piece that paints a clear picture of dealing with messy relationships.

On their latest single “So Sorry” no little remorse is felt, and even though the lyrics suggest a feeling of your heart being ripped from your chest with a pair of loose pliers, A&L proudly transform that pain into something beautiful as the band members burst with enthusiasm and rabid energy on their instrumentation.

But we all know, nothing can prepare you for the emotional devastation that comes when you find out the one you loved, the one you let into your most intimate places, the one you built your life with, has betrayed you. You’re broken-hearted, grieving, angry, confused, and deeply hurt.

However, the vocalist pens a tune that makes you know your worth, allowing her to guide the audience in pushing beyond and exploring unrealized potential. If you ever dealt with heartbreak, listening to “So Sorry” can help take away the pain. What separates A&L from legions of shred-happy musical peers is their emotional urgency and the unexpected ways in which they contort their influences.

Their technical prowess on a pristine-sounding record all works in favor of making your eyes light up and  your heart rate accelerate. In other words,  it’s rock music built from familiar sounds, all drawn together with an ability to reach the audience with the hopes of pulling them up.

It’s a blast when you listen to “So Sorry”. This style would collapse under the weight of too much seriousness and yet they never sound like they’re just screaming metaphors in wild time signatures. A&L becomes a band that drills enough enthusiasm on the listener, to make the song feel like its own distinct action sequence but concise enough to avoid monotony and be entertaining.
