Music Review: Ferera Swan – Second Time

Music Review Ferera Swan - Second Time

Ferera Swan presents a heart-rending song “Second Time”, a soaring ballad about love and loss. It’s about the human desire to connect to each other while living in a world that separates us at different times in our lives.

“Second Time” serves as a perfect showcase of Ferera Swan’s impressive vocal range. Her voice is incredibly commanding and emotional, adding to the solid songwriting with an undeniably prudent message. Her vocal reminds me of another young phenom channeling the greats like Lady Gaga on her song “I’ll Never Love Again” from the 2018 film A Star Is Born.

Swan is unable to be grounded as she floats through the lives of people who are disconnected as she sings “how can you say you love someone, you don’t even want to know?” The singer-songwriter taps into an increasingly common feeling of disconnection from each other and ourselves.

The song suggests a pleasing creative evolution for the artist as she builds upon classic piano sounds in a way that feels more in step with the present. Infused with weepy strings it becomes a blast from the distant past that will leave you a soggy mess whether you like it or not. Eventually she makes a decision to let things be reminding us that one is never truly forgotten.

Part of her upcoming EP, “Second Time” leaves you wondering what may linger in loss and regret if we are not able to be present in the relationships around us. Ferera Swan is not afraid to be in a state of emotional vulnerability and at the same time she offers a sense of comfort and support through her new song.
