Music Review: Rasha Jay – High Dive

    Raasha Jay - High Dive-2

Rasha Jay combs through rock elements with a glistening new wave, offering a patina of fresh-faced authenticity and much in vocal prowess.

Her vibe, going by her latest single “High Dive”, is a mix of earthiness—the silky vocals shown off in the relatively naked verses accompanied with a distortion-heavy mix of string performances. The song bursts with rockstar vitality—fuzz, volume, and spacious sonics, the stuff with feedback and texture that makes it so special.

“High Dive” is a sweet-and-salty combination that’s been made to sound more streamlined and sophisticated. Beyond moments of churned power chords, a shimmering, gauzy guitar tone presides.

Rasha Jay just wants to be free and be herself. And sometimes it works when she emphasizes on repetition. The singer-songwriter has put together a record that’s consistently captivating. And it feels effortless for the listener to flip the record and revisit.

The second single off Rasha Jay’s new EP of the same name, “High Dive” uses tiny percussive snags and an icy guitar glow in the verses to create an air of genuine mystery.  The feverish melodies pack tight, as Rasha Jay develops her poetic attraction to a strange, flipped to heartfelt, hard realism.

Hailing from New Jersey, Rasha Jay dedicates to a primary-color production scheme, which dazzles in contrast to contemporary rock’s blinding grey. And with the ability of occupying a deep zone with her lyrics, she is almost suggesting the sheer effort that could do with more of that soulful spirit that she possesses.
