Sei delves on his creative tastes, music influences and new album “SEI LESS”

Sei-2

Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.

My name is Sei! I’m from Patterson, New Jersey but I have been raised in Charlotte, North Carolina for almost half of my life.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

When I was young I had always been motivated and inspired to simply be great. A confidence instilled in me from my parents from a young age drove me to that point. Listening to the Legends of hip-hop always put a spark in me and the first time I rapped a verse I knew this was for me.

Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

SEI LESS is an album that has so much depth to it but isn’t needed to be described because the music speaks for itself. Working from my 1st Album, Everything on the rocks, it was a shift in my mentality that made me want to work my own path of music and pursue all forms of the art. From producing more than half of the album, writing some of the most complex but simple verses, and continually pushing the flow of music that I have curated to a max degree. At the end of all this its simply just to Sei less (Say less).

What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?

The thing that makes my music unique is the complex simplicity I deliver from the production and lyric standpoint. Some of my favorite producers such as Pharrell , Kanye have complex productions but also some of their most simple beats are involved in their biggest hits.

Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

Some of my biggest music influences are definitely Kanye, Tyler, Earl, Baby Keem, and ASAP rocky.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

I don’t necessarily have a “best” moment, but one of my favorite moments was the day before I dropped this album I held a listening party in my city and many people pulled up and enjoyed the music. Seeing so many people come out just to listen to me was definitely special.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

Music is definitely a struggle to balance with work, family and relationships but without those last two components I would not be still doing it today. Kiyana Christopher, who is also my partner, has curated some of the most creative visuals in the city of Charlotte for the press run of my album. She pushed me to work, make music, and grind for the goals we need to achieve.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

The advice I would give young musicians is if you’re built for it then do it. There’s such a passive aggressive society that is going to constantly praise mediocrity but in their defense they see this mediocrity flooded to them everyday. If you think your better, if you feel your better, if you think what you do can change the world… then do it. Sei less, and do more.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Sei Less, do more

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

What’s next is tons of promo, tons of content, and crafting some amazing visuals to the most received songs on SEI LESS. Better , better, and better is what im pursuing and i will take my own advice as well… to Sei less, and Do more.
