1. Eminem

Eminem (real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III) was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on October 17, 1972. He’s one of the best-selling musicians of the 21st century and one of the most influential rappers of all time. He had a turbulent childhood, marked by poverty and allegations of abuse. At age 14 he began rapping in clubs in Detroit, Michigan. He went on to become one of the best-selling music artists of all time, selling over 220 million records worldwide. He’s also won numerous awards, including 15 Grammy Awards. In 2005, Eminem went on hiatus largely due to an addiction to prescription drugs. In 2010, he released the Grammy-winning album Recovery, a highly autobiographical attempt to come to terms with his struggles with addiction and experience with rehabilitation.

2. Jack Harlow

Jack Harlow was born in Louisville on March 13, 1998 and began rapping and writing rhymes by the time he was 12. Together with his friend named Copeland, Jackman used a Guitar, a microphone, and a laptop to record rhymes and songs, which they sold to their classmates in High school. Harlow’s first major breakthrough came with the release of his 2020 single, “Whats Poppin“. Aided by its popularity on TikTok, it peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and went on to receive a Grammy Award nomination. He also collaborated with Lil Nas X on “Industry Baby” a song that was highly criticized for the all-too-familiar accusations of pushing a “gay agenda” amongst the black community.

Mac Miller (real name Malcolm James McCormick) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 19, 1992. He got interested in hip-hop while still in his school and learned a number of musical instruments on his own. In the year 2010, Mac Miller entered into a recording deal with the independent recording label ‘Rostrum Records’. His first album Blue Slide Park debuted to number one position on the Billboard 200 chart which made him a national celebrity overnight. Mac Miller revealed that during his Macadelic Tour in 2012, he was taking a combination of promethazine and codeine called as “purple drank” or “lean” to manage stress. He briefly became sober and also dated pop artist Ariana Grande before they broke up. Unfortunately, Mac Miller died of an apparent drug overdose on September 7, 2018, at his Studio City home in Los Angeles.

Action Bronson (real name Ariyan Arslani) was born in Queens, New York City on December 2, 1983. Before embarking on a career as a rapper, which was originally just a hobby, Bronson was a gourmet chef in New York City. He hosted his own online cooking show, Action in the Kitchen. After breaking his leg in the kitchen, Bronson concentrated solely on his music career. In  In September 2017, he also published his first book, based on his travel show, a cookbook, also entitled Fuck, That’s DeliciousHe released his major label debut album, Mr. Wonderful, on March 23, 2015. Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker) was born in Houston, Texas on April 22, 1990. MGK started rapping while still in high school and quickly gained a large local following through the release of several mixtapes. His breakthrough came with the 2006 Stamp of Approval mixtape which garnered several eyeballs. His debut album Lace Up was released to positive response from critics. It debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 chart, the album had popular singles such as “Wild Boy“. MGK then started a feud with Eminem began on May 7, 2012, when he wrote a tweet saying that Eminem’s daughter Hailie was “hot as fuck”, despite her being 16 at the time. He’s also had beef with rapper G-Eazy.

Russ (real name Russell James Vitale) was born on September 26, 1992, in Secaucus, New Jersey. He was taught to play guitar by his father, and over the years gradually learned how to play several instruments. In May 2017, Russ released his 12th studio album titled There’s Really a Wolf, which debuted at the 7th spot on Billboard 200. On September 11, 2017, after a show, Russ tweeted a picture depicting him in a shirt with writing on it that said: “How much xans and lean do you have to do before you realize you’re a fucking loser”. The tweet caused controversy, and led to numerous responses from other music artists. Chicago rapper Fredo Santana (who has since died), responded to the tweet, stating: “Until I can stop thinking bout my dead homies an the trauma I been thru in my life that’s when I’ll stop”.

G-Eazy (real name Gerald Earl Gillum) was born on May 24, 1989 in Oakland, California. Starting out as a record producer, G-Eazy began working on singles while he was still a student at the Loyola University at New Orleans with his producer Christoph Andersson who also was a student there. His first major-label album, These Things Happen, peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard 200. On May 2, 2018, Gillum was arrested in Stockholm, Sweden on suspicion of assault, possession and use of drugs, after he allegedly punched a security guard and was found to have cocaine in his pocket. Nonetheless, he’s gone on to release popular songs like “Me, Myself & I“, “No Limit” and “I Mean It“.

Caskey (real name Brandon Caskey} was born on August 28, 1992 in Orlando, Florida. He initially rose to fame for his more than half a dozen successful mixtapes including No Complaints. His father committed suicide when he was sixteen years old. He wrote the songs “Letter to My Father” and “Been Solid” on the No Complaints mixtape, as a tribute to him. His initial mixtapes were self released until he began producing with Cash Money Records.

Paul Wall (real name Paul Michael Slayton) was born on March 11, 1981 in Houston, Texas. He grew up as a hardcore disciple of fellow Houstonian DJ Screw and became so familiar with the pioneering DJ’s woozy, slowed-down style of remixing that he had to adjust to hearing hip-hop at any other tempo. He began his career performing alongside fellow Houston artist Chamillionaire, with whom he released several albums, including 2002’s independently released Get Ya Mind Correct. On November 19, 2004, Wall and his entourage allegedly attacked Chamillionaire’s younger brother, Rasaq Seriki, at a nightclub. Chamillionaire expressed his disappointment in Paul Wall, arguing that they all used to be family and that these events should not have happened.
