Benjamin Stranger to Celebrate Big Summer Of Releases

Benjamin Stranger to Celebrate Big Summer Of Release-2

Benjamin Stranger is celebrating a big Summer of releases with a remix for his track Misshapen Id along with the first single before his full-length release, Summer Alone.

Stranger is a Nashville-based alt-rocker, inspired by those who came before him, including everyone from The Weeknd to Tom Waits. His soulful voice and darker synth tones are reminiscent of new wave eighties acts like Depeche Mode.

We would love to gain some coverage with you for the release. Check out the EPK here and learn a bit more about Benjamin Stranger below.

TWANAS and Stranger go back twenty years. TWANAS recounts, “Ben and I met in Baltimore City, 2002-2003. I answered a City Paper Ad-he and mutual friends published.” Stranger was looking for a drummer and they clicked right away.

TWANAS says he learned so much from Stranger that he applies to this day, and that he applied to the remix: “Through living together for almost 10 years Ben and I traded cultural, spiritual and intellectual knowledge. We rehearsed, recorded, performed and toured as musicians for 6 solid years. In that time I learned about the origins of Folk Music, Americana, and Rock-n Roll. Ben in particular would often demonstrate workflows, ideas and equipment unbeknownst to me which I now continue to use in TWANAS to this day. He taught me how to think openly as a musician and recording artist.”

The original track owes a debt to Stranger’s collaborator, Trace Faulkner:

“It’s called Misshapen Identity. Go.” These were the words Benjamin Stranger got in a written note. That was the beginning of the single, remix, and forthcoming album. Happy to give credit where it’s due, the consummate artist shares, “The starting point for the new single ‘Misshapen Identity’ is my main collaborator, Trace Faulkner, who wrote the bulk of the music and came up with the punning title.”

While telling the story, Stranger is quick to bring up his collaborative approach to art and music, telling us, “[Trace and I] shared the same workspace at the time, and he wrote and recorded a demo one morning.” When Stranger got to the space, the note was waiting for him with the demo and the song was born soon after Ben put his touch on it.

“By the afternoon I had written the lyrics and melody around that titular idea, and that demo went on to be the basis for the finished track we recorded with John Meehan at Sundial Sound.” The song grew into itself fast as other musical collaborators joined, the haunted sound helped by Nashville pedal steel virtuoso Tony Paoletta. Stranger’s affinity for making art with a little help from his friends continued as the song developed.
