My name is Finisher DG from Saginaw, MI but I am currently living in California at the moment to better my career.
What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
Back in 2014-15 me and my homies a get high sit in the car , one of us a play a beat through the radio on our phone and another will voice record us rapping. I made my first music video in 2015 which was a freestyle that people from my hometown (eventually clowned) so It brought my confidence down. Then a couple months later I did another one and dropped it called “ Finisher Durant “ which had a lot of people catch on to it and I start getting noticed. People still talked down bout me but I felt I can get far so I took it serious.
Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?
I just dropped a new mixtape called “ Sincerely Dirty “ July, 23rd 2021 and this is my sound . I feel it’s different from others and could catch the world’s attention. I like for people to get hype to my music and puts them in a good mood especially when they’re in a bad mood. There’s not really a story behind it but then again it’s about being a Dirtbag. Like in the song called “ Sincerely Dirty “ (track number 2) I said “ Make a play with a ni**a then finesse em (dirty) , Do a song with a ni**a then hit his girl (dirty), Tax him on the gas because I don’t like him (dirty), I don’t get even with ni**as I just stunt on them (dirty)” that right there should let you know what a Dirtbag is.
What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?
I feel my music Is unique because the way I say stuff … like I say some clever sh*t , oh yea and the way I say my adlibs “ FROM THE DIRTY”.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Gucci Mane is my biggest influence on music that guy’s a genius I swear I’ve been following him since 2006. Gucci Mane really put me on a lot of other artist as well like I would only find out about other artist just because they were featured on his track but yea listening to Gucci had me like damn I wanna rap to but I don’t think I could do it, then I tried now look at me Finisher DG.
And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
I would like to collaborate with … daaaamn thats kind of hard on the fact that my style so different and It probably wouldn’t catch other artists attention like them lol wanted to work with me. IF I did have to pick tho I would do something with Gucci Mane, Veeze, Bfb Da Packman, Tyler The Creator and Yn Jay again.
Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
Me working with Zaytoven is the BEST moment I did in my whole career so far. I say that on the fact that 1 Zaytoven is a legend and 2 it was a boost . My views went up a lot of people talk about it and I believe he likes some of my music. I haven’t met Zay personally but we messaged each other on Instagram. I’ve met FBG Duck before he died because I opened up for him, performed at a show he did. I opened up for Mo3 as well but I didn’t get a chance to meet him. Saucy Walka shared my music video on his Instagram, DJ Holiday shouted me out a couple times on his Twitter.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
I use to work two jobs and they both were AFC homes (group home like) and After I get my clients situated I’ll write music or bring my laptop to work sometimes to make beats then when I get home I’ll put the track down. That’s one of the reasons why I have 800+ songs to my name.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Advice I would give to upcoming artists is to stay consistent no matter what and always remember.
If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
A message I would give to my fans is that “Nothing is Impossible “.
What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
My plan is to get more big artist attention and keep promoting my “ Sincerely Dirty “ tape. I have about 10 mixtapes thats finished but I don’t feel its the right time to drop them even tho I have about 40 tapes out. I will remain independent as well.
