Saults – Stuck in Old Fantasy

Indie pop duo Saults emerged from the London music scene in 2017 with an impressive work ethics since their departure from their homeland, France. For 4 years, the two Saults brothers – Antoine and Greg – have released self-produced singles, EP, and played gigs across France and UK, hitting some prestigious stages like Minehead Festival, Love Supreme Festival…

But in March 2020, (we all know what happened then, don’t we?) the entire world stopped. The two brothers decided to go back to their hometown in France, and that’s where the magic happened. With one goal in mind – “surviving as a young band in this crisis” –, one of their videos on Instagram and Tiktok literally blew up and their numbers on socials began to grow significantly. During the pandemic, the band kept on existing thanks to social media and by getting closer to their fans.

At the end of the day, ‘‘it helped us achieving their musical transition’’ said Antoine: Saults has become a pop band, without forgetting where their main influences were standing. Their newest single, Stuck in Old Fantasy, the first one after two years of silence, produced by Jack Wilson, has been chosen by the band to mark the beginning of a new era for the Saults’ brothers.

“Stuck in old fantasy is about this feeling when you’re in a toxic relationship but don’t wanna end it because you worship the past,” said Greg Saults. It’s a rousing electro-indie number with a catchy chorus interspersed with a Stratocaster guitar sound coming from nowhere and a powerful beat. The harmony between both lead singers and brothers is astonishingly soulful and the production is as slick as it gets. It’s got that instant nostalgic feel and definitely checks the boxes to be a perfect late summer anthem.
