Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.

Hi, I’m Klarissa but everyone knows me as Klary. I’m currently based in London, UK, but I’m originally from Italy.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

I’ve always loved to sing, since I was probably 4 years old, it used to be a hobby long ago but in 2005 while I was on a trip abroad, I’ve realized how impactful music can be worldwide and that’s when I realized that music was my chosen path. I’d like to positively influence thousands of people all over the world.

Tell us about your new music. What’s the story behind it?

My latest song is called “Mine (Romello Remix)” and it’s actually an EDM remix of my second single “Mine”, that was released back in August 2020.

The original version is quite different from the Remix, it’s a slow R&B track, but then Romello contacted me telling me that he had an idea in mind for a remix for my song. As you can imagine I was really excited about it and obviously I accepted.

We worked remotely and then before I even realized the song was finished and ready to be released!

What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?

In the past few years, I experimented various music genres such as mainly Pop but also R&B, Rock, Soul and now Electronic and Dance. I like to try different things and not focus on just one genre, but I have to admit that EDM was the most fun and exciting to work on, so I’ll probably keep working on Electronic and also Pop music.

I work with different producers that create the music and then I write the lyrics, regardless of the music genre I’m working on for that specific song I always write about personal experiences of my past and present, which I think are quite relatable for many people.

Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

I still listen to a lot of late 90s / early 2000s music which probably are my main influences. But I also take inspirations from Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Little Mix and James Arthur which are the artists of this decade that I listen to. I’d love to collaborate with Ed Sheeran and with Charlie Puth on an album or EP, as I think Charlie is a great producer as well.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

I’m most proud of my first original song called “Love Again”, as I worked hard to save money to actually create the song from scratch. I found the right resources for the music and video productions and the result was great so yes, I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved so far.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

I’m most focused on my music now but of course I have a full-time job as well and other projects and of course the family and friends so I need to plan things quite in an obsessive way and in advance in order to do everything, but I have to admit that sometimes I struggle to keep up with all the obligations.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

It’s really important to stay focused and be 100% determined if you want to pursue this type of career. It takes a lot of time and patience to achieve even the smallest thing, so there will be many moments in which you’ll feel frustrated and angry but the important, as I said, is to stay focused and keep working hard to improve and move forward. I’ve been trying to pursue the music career for 12 years now and even after all the negative comments and unsuccessful things I’ve tried in the past I’m still trying, and I won’t give up until I will get there.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

I’m not that type of person that talks a lot so probably I haven’t said it enough but I’m really grateful to all the people that have supported me throughout the years.

I had people in the past telling me that I should “get over it” and “stop daydreaming”, but that’s so wrong to say. Some people achieved big things in life only because they persisted, and they were 100% in it until they actually managed to do what they wanted to do. If you give up on big dreams even before you realize them you’ll never know what your life could have been if you did things differently.

So thank you so much to everyone that didn’t break my dreams and were on my side for the past few years.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

I’m working on many projects at the moment, I have music releases planned for the rest of the year. I’m working on most of the projects with Romello which is an amazing producer with great ideas, and I look forward to work with him as a team to bring some good music to life.
