Machine Gun Kelly and UFC fighter Conor McGregor, appeared to get into an altercation on the red carpet of the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

According to TMZ, McGregor approached MGK at the award ceremony at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., to ask for a photograph. He was apparently denied, which sparked the ire of the former two-division UFC champion.

That’s when McGregor allegedly threw his drink at Kelly, which only escalated the situation further as security attempted to keep the two celebrities apart. Photos snapped on the red carpet show both men being pulled apart, with McGregor’s drink hurled at Kelly. Kelly, wearing a red glittered suit, shielded girlfriend Megan Fox from harm as security guards pulled McGregor away.

While details of the altercation haven’t been confirmed yet, photos and videos online show MGK’s actress girlfriend Megan Fox breaking up the argument along with security from the show. Finally, MGK and girlfriend Megan Fox were ushered away from Conor, who is still recovering from a broken tibia from his last fight at UFC 264.

Once cooler heads prevailed, Kelly and Fox were both seen walking the red carpet together before entering the building. Kelly is slated to perform alongside Travis Barker during the broadcast. Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker performed their hit, “Papercuts,” during the MTV Video Music Awards.

The intricate show saw Kelly covered with thorns lying on a grave to kick things off. Then, he stood up and stepped up to the mic and ripped through the song, as Barker set the pace for the collaboration’s thundering rhythm. He finished the set by smashing his guitar on stage.

MGK’s Tickets To My Downfall was recently certified platinum, his first album to achieve that status. The platinum album cert isn’t the first indication that Tickets to My Downfall is MGK’s biggest-selling effort yet — his pop-punk debut was also his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on release in September 2020.
