Music Interview: L.O Heemz on his creative tastes, musical influences & new single ‘Never Perfect’

L.O Heemz - Never Perfect-2

Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself?

Thanks for having me. I go by the name L.O Heemz which means god, I believe we all are connected to the essence of god or what ever you want to call it and it’s no separation. Plus my middle name is Raheem so it just fits.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path? Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

I started making music when I was from the age of 11-13 the first hiphop song I heard was “Notorious Thugs” by biggie and bone thugz n harmony, once I heard that track I was hooked in the art of putting words together with a melody. That song is in my top 5 favorites.  My new single out now is titled “Never Perfect” and its pretty much self explanatory. Y’all definitely need to check that out on all platforms.

What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?

What makes my music unique is that I’m so diverse as a song writer that I make all kind of records. Some records I debate on putting out because it’s so left field, but eventually I will. Plus I’m a dope MC and I speak and touch on content a lot of people may not know how to express in words.

Do you play any instruments? And why do you love it? Nah I don’t, I wish.

Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

My biggest musical influences would have to be 2 pac, bone thugz n harmony and Kendrick lamar.

That’s a hard question, it’s a lot of artist I would want to work with but I would say I would have loved to collaborate with Xxx he was dope and he had a strong soul with a lot to say. I think we would of came up with something dope. I would also want to work with an indie group called LANY, it’s on the pop/ rock vibe. N of course a track with me and Kendrick would be fire in my opinion.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

I would say when I got to perform in front of a crowd of like 1500 people at a Team back pack event that was crazy, and also when I was on XXL for a remix I did to “Control” by big Sean.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work? What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

I balance everything by prioritizing things in my life. I make sure my daughter is good then everything comes after that. If my daughter isn’t happy I’m not happy. My advice for aspiring musicians would be no one will ever see your vision how u see it, and that’s ok. Your not wrong so believe in your vision, and if you fail and get a lot of bumps and bruises along the way. You know you had the heart to go through with your vision, and a lot of people do not.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be? What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects or tours?

I will be dropping my new project titled “SH33SH” this year, and I’ll be going on tour around the tri-state area in March with my brother Konceited.

One message I would like to give to my fans is really simple. Love your self more than you love the approval from people who don’t love them selves.
