Music Interview: Xavier Toscano

Welcome to Xttrawave Music Blog for a short interview featuring today’s artist, Xavier Toscano.

Let’s get started!

Hi! Thank you for having me – my name is Xavier Toscano (pronounced X-a-veer), and I am a singer from the San Francisco Bay Area.
What got you into music?
The tremendous need to create songs and perform. I’ve always loved it, and now here I am.
What made you realize that music was your path?
Probably when I was about 3.5 or 4 years old. I just knew that I wanted to sing.
Tell us about your new song/EP/Mixtape/Album? And what’s the story
behind it?
Feels So Good was an album that I created with my collaborators with the intention to make people feel good when they listened. Though not all songs have a positive feel good vibe, I certainly hope they are cathartic.
What makes your music unique?
I’ve written all of my lyrics, and I feel that my voice is one of a kind.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
I have an eclectic taste in music, however, it is all un-apologetically pop!
Do you play any instruments? And why do you love it?
I only play voice, but I can certainly dance.
How is your creative process when recording music?
For me, it starts with an instrumental track most of the time. I let the music talk to me and then I write lyrics.
What makes a good recording session?
It can be a variety of things, but for me is the feeling it produces. Music is such a visceral thing. It just feels done when it’s done.
Do you think you get better as a musician? And if so, how would you achieve that?
I believe you’re only as good as the time you put into your craft. Period, end of story!
Who would you like to collaborate with in future?
Many, many people: Will.I.Am, Madonna, JLo, Enrique Iglesisa, Pitbull, Pharrell Williams, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera… I could go on and on, but ultimately I would love to make some music with Timbaland.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or job?
HAAHHAHAHAH! Sadly, I don’t believe in balance, I do however believe in loving those that love you.
Has there been one particular moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
There have been many – from performing at Disneyland, to London, to having 5 songs placed on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, to being featured on Xttrawave! 😉
Which was your best public performance and why?
Man, that’s tough to answer, but I really think I had a wonderful time performing in London. That was an amazing experience that I shared with 5,000 people.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Top 40 radio – I love pop music.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Stay with it, because you never know what’s around the corner.
If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
I LOVE YOU!!!
If you didn’t become a musician what would you be doing?
There is nothing else for me – PERIOD!
What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects or tours?
I was just on tour this summer, and now I am going to be releasing a few more videos, and planning a tour next year. I am ready for more!
Thank you for having me.
