Music Review: Kid Fre$h – Pe$os

Music Review Kid Fre$h - Pe$os

Kid Fre$h comes up with a pretty incredible hot streak for Latin and Caribbean fusion to make a trap-meets-salsa kind of beat. This is just an underscoring of how much Latin music is part of the story of popular music in this country.

The Texas-based rapper presents his irresistible new single “Pe$os”, splashing in a little bit of Spanish and English lyrics. His rap-style is another thing entirely, focusing on a very broad range of likes, and on newfound Latin swagger.

Kid Fre$h supplies a memorable banger, demonstrating versatility in breaking out of his comfort zone and doing a great deal to shake up predictable hip-hop practices. He does it for the culture bridging Latin vibes with his wildly quotable lyrics and defiant realness.

The song comes with that bounce akin to Drake’s “Hotline Bling” groove to Cardi B teaming up with J Balvin and Bad Bunny on the inescapable smash “I Like It” to Camilla Cabello’s “Havana” which features rapper Young Thug. Basically, you can come to the conclusion that “Pe$os” is the buoyant Latin crossover track.

It’s a big enough success for the rapper. The production is appealingly low-key and spare with a booming bass, accompanied by drifting piano chords that feel delicate. It’s a confident approach in using a vibrant blend of sounds and styles, which gives promise that the artist will continue in his winning ways.
