Music Review: Lee Laamaj – WaveLines

Lee Laamaj - WaveLines-2

Lee Laamaj drops hard-nosed bars along with a fire beat, the Los Angeles Based rapper-singer presents his new single “WaveLines”, his more cohesive and narratively ambitious project to date.

The song captures the artist’s spark-plug energy, as he packs in rhymes with solid flexes and instantly rewindable punchlines. Lee Laamaj occasionally showcases traits familiar with independent like-minded artists who share his multitasking DIY ethos.

Lee Laamaj combines all of this and shows his knack for writing with playful anarchic bars, alongside a wild, boundary-pushing production. It’s an attempt to make something uniquely modern, moving outward into catchy sounds without sacrificing the song’s inherent smoothness.

Hip-hop fans do think the climate is opening up a little bit more to change. You’re hearing a little bit more content from artists that actually want to display their melodic chops—not even just the singers but also some of the edgy rappers.

There’s people that can make really accessible music, and there’s people who can make experimental music, but there’s only a handful of people who can do both. Lee Laamaj aims to join this handful, making music that still scans as hard and dynamic as ever.

When the artist is at his most inventive, his sound feels remarkably fresh and singular. And something is bound to stick. We have so many legends and so many greats and Lee Laamaj shows his ability in just doing that and hopes to succeed with his new single “WaveLines.”
