Music Review: Omnesia

“Candy” is a song written and recorded by the rock duo Omnesia. The duo tackle a broader range of styles and ideas from New Wave to Electro-Pop. They appropriately shine with synths and strings, a great deal of the experience being an electronic buzz.

The vocalist evokes gorgeous choral miniatures with a whiff of arctic grace and striking forays into a pure electronic abstraction. Part of their album “World On Fire” the duo are oblique enough to stand on their own with their funky drum shuffle, even more compelling with a handful of skeletal melodies that lend cohesion to the song.

Hanging in the air with echoes, the vocals float along a vast expanse of half-frozen slurry as they amble through many different moods. The strings become another rhythmic and textural element somehow creating a swirling and disorienting soundworld.

The duo’s stylistic shifts become more interesting in the long run with a renewed focus on eclecticism and a handful of melodies that are just sweet enough. “Candy” quietly radiates its own beauty with lovely vocal delivery and a patient percussive build to become an inspiring tune that is creative and original.
