Great to have you on Xttrawave. First off, tell me about your new single “Anotha Lifetime” and your collaboration with Teruo Rhodes.

I was skating down Emancipation in Houston at like 10pm and saw mad people posted up outside this building on a corner. Everybody was dressed fly as hell. I had my camera on me so I jumped in. Turned out to be a party that the homie Tobacco Ryan was throwing for his album drop. That joint went nuts – so I HAD to reach out to his producer. We vibed so I bought like 6 beats.

Everything he sent me was definitely on go, but this ONE, it just felt different. It had this classic Neo-Soul flavor to it. I had to write something real player over it. I thought about this situationship that I was in and wanted to vent on. I had a couple flows I had never played with that I needed to jump on too, so the rest was history.

Is this single tied up to an Album or are you just going to drop singles this year?

Yeah, “Anotha Lifetime” is part of my EP, “Devine Intervention”. Crazy thing is, this joint BEEN ready to drop for damn near a year! I’m still independent though, so I gotta play my cards right. I’m heavy on making sure that the singles that I do drop get the eyes they deserve.

Will we see any other collaborations on “Devine Intervention”?

I did a song with with the homie Heroux, formerly known as Sensei On Em . That record is super saucy. It’s called “WYA” and it was also produced by Teruo too. Besides that, I’m kinda weird about collabs. I know that they’re a good thing to do, but the chemistry just gotta be there for me. I just like to keep the shits natural.

What did you listen to growing up?

I grew up in the 90’s, and I was exposed to every single genre possible. I was able to vibe with all of them in different ways too. Except for country; that shit just never hit for me; not even on a good day.

Both my mom and dad had an extensive playlist. It could range from Staind to Sade and everything in between. My dad likes a lot of 80s rap. Paid in Full type shit. My moms playlist was always fresh. My OG stays up on game and she always was on the latest. I remember when Jay-Z dropped “The Life and Times – Vol. 3”, she threw all 5 of us up in the minivan and drove us to the beach bumping “Big Pimpin” all the way through the hood.

My aunt and uncle was like other parents to me growing up too and they also kept me up on sauce. They were the only ones in the family with premium tv, and since I was ALWAYS there, I never missed one music video premiere. I love them for that.

Do you remember the first album you purchased?

Damn, so you gone really make me expose my age, huh? I think my first cassette was the soundtrack to “Space Jam”. It was the first album that was actually mine. I probably bought it with my chore money.

I listened to a few of your songs. None of your music seems to sound the same. Why do you think that is?

I listen to crazy different genres of music, so it just don’t sit right in my spirit to box myself into just one.

Who are you playing heavy on rotation right now?

I been jammin Burna Boy and Wizkid alot. Summer time just got here, so that’s the vibes right now for me. On my hood shit though, I’m rocking with Babyface Ray or maybe Casho. After I burn one though, I might throw some funky shit on like Masego or Thundercat.

Who’s your dream collaborator?

I’m dead laughing right now because the answer to this question will forever change. Everyday I’m in on a new wave. Today though, I’m on some OG classic shit. A feature from Fab would be A1. It’s Loso in case you ain’t no so.

Why Fabolous?

He always stood out me. His shit was never corny to me. The man got punchlines on top of punchlines that stay relevant to the times. I also respect how he stays out the way and keeps his audience organic and lowkey.

Which song of yours best describes you?

Either “On That” or “Kush and Riesling”. Both of these joints was pretty much freestyles of the shit I was going through in that very moment. They are pretty much ‘me’, but in a song. The “Closer to my Dreams” freestyle on SoundCloud is pretty accurate too. That shit was all off the dome.

Are those your favorite song

Na, they dope. But my favorite song that’s out right now is “3am in Milwaukee”. It just go.

How often are you in the studio these days?

I haven’t been to the studio in a few months. I left Houston for a little bit because of the pandemic. My family never travels and my granny getting older, so I made the trip back to Milwaukee. I just set my mic up with sum foam on the wall. And I got the protools and shit on my computer. I shoot it over to my homie and engineer Chris Jordan and he takes care of the rest for me.

Do you have any kids? Are you in a relationship at all?

Na, not that I know of at least. And I’m in a situation right now. Ain’t really no labels or nothing, but I’m invested. We’ll see.

Does the music pay the bills or do you have other streams of income?

I’ll always have a few hustles going at once. As of now, the music seems to be more of a bill than an actual check. It’s what I love though so it’s worth the sacrifice. I just launched my merch site too. It’s called “Space Cadet Szn”. The merch is super icy. I wear it religiously.

You seem to be working a lot. When do you fit in fun?

Time management is crucial. I put everything on a schedule. Money management is heavy too. I make sure I budget my shit properly. Fun to me ain’t the same as fun to most people. I find fun in exploring and seeing new shit. I like good food and new cities. I like live sports and fashion pop-ups. Like, a date with me would be facing a backwood while riding bikes through Midtown Houston and sipping on cold press juices and shit.

Do you have any advice for other indie artists?

Stay true to you and that bankroll will come through.

Smooth. Anything you want to share with fans?

Yeah, thank you for rocking with me. It’s much appreciated and you don’t go unnoticed. Make sure to follow me to stay up on my journey and my latest shit. Also, any merch you purchase will be going back into my marketing so I can get put on the map little more! Love yall.
