Pooh Shiesty, real name Lontrell Williams Jr. (born November 8, 1999) is a young and upcoming artist whose gained immense popularity in a short time. His best known for his 2020 hit single “Back in Blood” featuring Lil Durk. The song also happened to be released hours before rapper King Von passed away in due to a shooting. The music video, dedicated to the late King Von, has now over 50 million views on YouTube.

The Memphis rapper moved to Texas while growing up before returning to finish high school. He’s mentioned Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, and Kodak Black and his influences and started rapping when he was 18 yrs old. His career started off with the debut single, “Hell Night”, featuring Big30, with the music video gaining over 6 million views. Pooh Shiesty then went on to release a couple of singles including “Shiesty Summer”, “Choppa Talk”, “Day One”, “At It Again”, “Main Slime”, and “ABCGE”.

This gained the attention of hip-hop legend Gucci Mane, and Pooh Shiesty would later on sign to his label, 1017 records. Eventually, they collaborated on the hit single “Still Remember”, with the music video gaining over 20 million views, signaling his rise as hip-hop’s new artist to watch out for. Six days later, Pooh Shiesty dropped “Monday to Sunday”, featuring Lil Baby and Big30, with the music video gaining over 4o million views.

However, controversy is not far behind from the rapper. Pooh Shiesty has been involved with rap beefs, including going back and forth with other Memphis rappers, Big Boogie and EBG Jizzle, on Instagram live. But rap beefs are the least of his worries. On October 2020, Pooh Shiesty was arrested for being involved in a shooting at Bay Harbor Islands, Florida. Surveillance footage reportedly identified him as one of the people involved in the assault after a drug and sneaker deal went south. He faced several charges, including armed robbery, aggravated assault and battery, and criminal theft, but was released on a $30,000 bond the same day.

Shiesty’s debut mixtape, Shiesty Season, reached number four on the US Billboard 200 and number two on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts.
