Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself?

Tin Foil Chairman, real name Luca van Cruchten, calls himself the Bob Ross of the dance floor. With a soft spot for lofi house, electro and experimental vibes he soulfully paints his own tracks and live sets together, always getting the crowd sweating.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

When just 14 years old I took my first steps into songwriting. Learning to sing, tuning my guitar strings and touching the melancholy piano keys made me lose my heart into the wonderful but bitter world of music. I grew up in a very creative family so getting into music was encouraged, like a lot.

Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

I just released my debut single ‘Such Bollocks’ on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Beatport.

… The story behind the song is, for myself, kinda the feeling we’re surrounded with so much nonsense. People talking shit behind your back, trying to feel better about themselves by pulling someone else trough the mud, you know what I mean? For me, making this song, was sort of a way to put all those feelings into a piece of music and being done with it. Guess I don’t really mind what people think about me, but lots of people around me, people close to me, struggle with those feels.

What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?

My music has a lot of influences coming from the lofi house/electro scene. When I’m not making music I listen to a lot of Mall Grab, Peggy Gou en Denis Sulta. Some people even said my debut single reminded them of Gui Boratto, which is an amazing compliment if you ask me.

When you see me playing live I always try to make the crowd curious with songs that have not be heard by lots of folks. When people get curious and still be dancing and sweating around, that’s just lovely.

Do you play any instruments? And why do you love it?

Before producing electronic music I always played in bands. I mostly sing and play the guitar. Also I play piano/synths, bass and a little bit of drums.

Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

Before I was DJ’ing a friend of mine tagged me in a Facebook video of Denis Sulta saying I looked like him. I really digged Sulta’s songs and immediately bought a DJ controller. A[er that the live gigs came sooner as expected and now with my debut single released it can only get better. Some other influences for me are DJ Boring, Mall Grab, Peggy Gou, Gui Borrato and Ross From Friends.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

Last summer I played a gig at a local festival near my hometown in Belgium, Genk On Stage. It was on a smaller stage, but pointed to all alternative people on the festival. It was just amazing, the crew, the crowd, the other artists. Everybody was just so sweet.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

I have my own audiovisual company so I’m a filmmaker and photographer, mostly in the nightlife scene. Also almost all my friends are artists themselves so do I really need to think about balancing my work with other obligations? Don’t think so. (laughs)

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

Find your own voice, your own sound. Keep hustling, keep grinding. If you really dream and you want something you’ll get to it. Obviously you have to got some skills and such to stand out but if you work hard, you’ll get there.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Lots of love for everybody, big cheers to everybody supporting me no matter what. All you guys deserve the best.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

My music video will be dropping on May 20th, very excited for that one. I’m also working on some new singles. They will be released at the end of the summer I think. First finishing those songs and then we’ll see. My new tracks will be on fire, I can tell you that.
