Music Interview: Yme on his creative tastes, being inspired by Juice WRLD & new single ‘For The Lies’

Yme-2

Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself?

Yme. The name Yme is made from the words “why me?” As throughout my life I have asked my-self that many times. I am from Kazakhstan

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

I always had a passion for music, it was magnetic to me. My inspiration was JuiceWRLD and I found it amazing how a person can connect with millions of people and inspire them through music. Also when I am in a horrible mental state, writing music makes me happy. Music helps me as a person. And I wish to help others with my own.

Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

I have only one single release for now called “For The Lies”, as I am working in a band called “3” and its hard to find time. However, I do have many projects coming up soon. “For the Lies” was made for when I had problems with my parents as they were against my relationship. Typical love story. And lyrics such as: “All I wanna do right now, is put a bullet in my head”. Describe my thoughts and emotion I was feeling at the time.

What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?

I have a very unique voice, I can sing super high, and super low. I have a very memorable flow. And most importantly the messages I try to propose to the audience. I am also very versatile in music.

Do you play any instruments? And why do you love it?

I can play the piano, but I never was able to read the notes. I learnt to play it solely through the sound. It calms me down and makes me feel very creative when I play the pi-ano.

Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

My biggest idol was and still is “JuiceWRLD”. His voice just spoke to my soul and heart, and the meaning and message he spread with his songs were super inspirational. The band I am in: “3”, we were going to collaborate with ‘JuiceWRLD’ this year. We saved up to 40 thousand euros for the collaboration and everything, but days before we were about to contact him personally, he tragically passed away. And it still hurts me to the day. RIP 999

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

The first ever song that I released was “Rumors” by “3”, a song I did with my band. I fell in love with music after that song, as people were telling me that I was very talented. And they actually listened to it and enjoyed it.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

I am a 15 year old, so I am still going to school. I find time after school for everyone. As I make music with 2 of my best friends, who are part of the “3”, theres three of us (self explanatory). After I record ideas and tracks in the studio, I spend my time with my fami-ly. I find time for everything, I am very organized.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

You shouldn’t aim to sing like somebody you idolize, instead focus on what you can do, your own talent, and find yourself as a musician.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

I am very grateful to each and every one of you. I want to grow my fan base, and I am so thankful for your support. Big love.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects or yours?

I am soon going to be releasing new singles, and I have a project coming up in our music band (“3”), we are making an album. I wish to continue music full time and grow my fan base. I want to change the world.
