Music Interview: Rolls Rollin on his musical tastes & new single “Big Booty”

Rolls Rollin-3

Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself?

My name is Rolls Rollin. I live outside the city of Toronto. The term Rollin comes from festivals, someone pops a pill and they begin to roll i.e. Rolls Rollin.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

I’ve always liked music, not just EDM but most genres. I actually found out I wanted to be a DJ while being totally intoxicated at a rave/music festival. I just looked around me and everyone was having a blast thanks to the guy on the stage. I realized then that I loved partying but I wanted to be the DJ playing the bangers for everyone too.

Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

My track is called “Big Booty”. There isn’t too much of a story to this track. I love big booty so do lots of people. So it’s a really fast over the top track that just radiates crazy energy. That being said, necks will be broken and booties will be shakin.

What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?

I think my music is an extension of the energy I have and want to give to people. What makes it unique is the sheer craziness of it. It’s just lit as hell.

Do you play any instruments? And why do you love it?

I mean, I play the mixer and cdjs:) I just love mixing tracks, adding onto an already amazing track. Honestly just creating high energy and dramatic effects. It’s extremely fun and I could do it for hours on end.

Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

I have too many artists to name that have influenced me. However, I’d love to do a set with Salvatore Ganacci or Steve Aoki.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

I just got started, but I’m looking forward to the peaks and valleys in the future.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

No matter what I got going on, I always set time aside to practice my skills and hone my trade.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

People will tell you ‘“it’s a bad idea, it’s a nice dream.” I say just go for it, but have a passion for what you do or else you won’t be happy. Also be your biggest fan, you can’t achieve anything if you don’t try. Finally, you must practice being patient. Nothing is overnight but if you stick with it and keep moving forward… you’ll win.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

I’d be nothing without my fans. They really mean a lot to me, I’d love to meet them one day and turn up.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

Following the release of my first track Big Booty, I got my second track called YOU WIN which should be out around a month after the release of my first track. I’m super hyped.
